• What's included with the Expedition Truck Cap? The cap ships complete with integrated roof rails, crossbars, all mounting hardware, 3M perimeter seals, butyl tape strips for the bulkhead step-down, keyed-alike locking latches, heavy-duty gas struts on all doors, integrated LED third brake light, high-visibility tempered glass windows, and comprehensive installation instructions.
• Is the cap keyed-alike? Yes. All keyed locking latches on the cap are keyed alike, meaning one key operates every door — including both gullwing side panels and the rear hatch.
• How is the cap mounted to the truck? The Expedition Cap uses a no-drill clamping system that mounts directly to your Ranger's factory bed rails. No holes, no permanent modifications, no compromise to your resale value. Installation uses basic hand tools.
• How much weight can the roof support? When equipped with the included OVS crossbars, the cap is rated for 325 lbs dynamic load (while driving) and 750 lbs static load (parked). This makes it fully capable of supporting rooftop tents, cargo boxes, kayaks, and other heavy overland gear.
• Can I run a rooftop tent on the OVS Expedition Cap? Yes. With its 750 lb static load rating (with crossbars), the Expedition cap is fully rated to support most rooftop tents on the market. We recommend confirming compatibility with your specific tent manufacturer's mounting requirements.
• Is the cap weather-sealed? Yes. The top-tier gasket sealing package includes a 3M single-bulb perimeter seal around the bed rails and bulkhead, plus a tailgate weather seal and butyl tape strips at critical bulkhead step-down points. As with any truck bed cap, no truck bed is completely sealed, but the Expedition provides industry-leading protection. Some water intrusion may still occur around the tailgate perimeter under extreme conditions.
• Are the included roof rails compatible with aftermarket crossbars? The included rails were designed around the included OVS crossbars. However, the rails feature a 19mm T-slot channel that will accept various aftermarket crossbar systems. OVS is progressively testing aftermarket options — check with us for the latest compatibility list.
• Does the front (cab-side) glass panel slide open? No. The current design uses a fixed rear window with no drop-down or pass-through accessibility.
• Does the cap have ventilation? Yes. A fixed integrated air vent is located above the front glass panel (closest to the cab). The vent provides constant airflow to reduce interior condensation and allows air to escape smoothly during panel closing.
• Can the cap be opened or locked from inside the bed? No. The Expedition Cap cannot be locked or opened from inside the bed — access is only via the exterior locking latches.
• Is drilling required for installation? No. Installation is a simple no-drill bolt-on process using the included clamping system and basic hand tools.
• Will this fit my previous-generation (2019–2023) Ranger? No. The Next-Gen Ranger (2024+) has a redesigned bed rail configuration that's incompatible with the outgoing Ranger. If you have a 2019–2023 Ranger, you'll need the appropriate OVS Expedition variant for that platform.
• Is this compatible with Ranger Raptor? Ranger Raptor typically has unique bed configurations that may require dedicated fitment verification. Please contact us before ordering if you have a Ranger Raptor to confirm compatibility.
• Is professional installation required? Two or more people are typically required to safely lift and position the cap onto the bed rails during installation. Experienced DIYers can complete the install with basic hand tools, but professional installation is recommended for those less comfortable with truck accessory work.
• What warranty is included? The Expedition Truck Cap is backed by OVS's Lifetime Warranty covering the structural integrity of the cap against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
