• What's the difference between the Pro+ and the standard Expedition? The Pro+ upgrades the standard Expedition with full-window wing doors (both sides feature tempered glass windows the full length of the door), integrated MOLLE-PAL channels inside the wing doors, sliding side window vents, an integrated 3rd brake light, and additional security cages. The base Expedition doesn't include the full glass wing doors or the same level of built-in accessory mounting.
• How is the cap sealed against water and dust? OVS includes a 3M single-bulb seal that installs around the perimeter of the bed rails and bulkhead. The rear hatch has its own bulb seal that compresses against the tailgate when closed. Two pieces of butyl tape are included for the step-down area between the side plastic bed rail and the bulkhead. Note: no truck bed can be completely waterproof — some minimal intrusion may occur, most commonly around the tailgate perimeter.
• Are the roof rails compatible with aftermarket crossbars? The integrated roof rails feature a 19mm T-slot channel and are designed to work with OVS optional crossbars. They're also compatible with various aftermarket crossbar and mounting systems. OVS is progressively testing aftermarket systems and updating the compatibility list.
• How much weight can the roof support? When equipped with OVS crossbars, the roof supports 325 lbs dynamic (while driving) and 750 lbs static (parked) — fully rated for rooftop tents, cargo boxes, and heavy overland gear.
• How much weight can the wing doors hold? The side access doors are designed to support approximately 15 lbs of mounted accessories on the integrated MOLLE panels. This is enough for MOLLE-compatible pouches, first aid kits, tool rolls, radios, and trail essentials while maintaining proper gas strut operation.
• Does the cap have a vent? Yes. The Pro+ features a fixed pressure air vent located on the panel closest to the cab (position varies by model — either above or below the window). The vent promotes airflow, reduces interior condensation, and allows air to escape when closing panels.
• Does the front (cab-side) glass slide open? No. The current design uses a fixed rear window with no drop-down or pass-through accessibility. The sliding vents are on the side windows only.
• Can the cap be opened or locked from inside the bed? No, not currently. The cap cannot be opened or locked from inside the truck bed. OVS is developing internal latch options but the feature is not yet available.
• Is drilling required for installation? For most vehicles, no drilling is required. The Maverick installation uses the no-drill clamping system. Note: some vehicles (like the Tacoma) require a single drilled hole for wiring; verify specific installation requirements in the instructions.
• How long does installation take? Installation takes approximately 1–2 hours with two people. The 5-piece modular design makes handling and mounting easier than one-piece caps.
• Can I install side frame MOLLE panels on the Pro+? No. The Pro+ already includes integrated MOLLE panels in the doors, so the standalone under-side door panels and side frame panels are not compatible. The mounting channels on the Pro+ only accommodate the built-in MOLLE panels, not additional ones.
• Will installing the cap affect my Maverick's fuel economy? The cap adds weight (122.35 lbs) and changes the aerodynamic profile of your Maverick. At highway speeds, some owners report slight fuel economy improvements over an open bed with loose cargo due to reduced drag. Weight impact is minimal but present.
• Is professional installation required? Two or more people are recommended to safely lift and position the modular sections during installation. Experienced DIYers can complete the install with basic hand tools in 1–2 hours, but professional installation is available for those who prefer it.
