OVS BUSHVELD II – PREMIUM 4-SEASON CANTILEVER HARD-SHELL ROOFTOP TENT
Massive space, rugged build, effortless setup — meet the Overland Vehicle Systems Bushveld II Rooftop Tent. Built for overlanders who demand comfort, durability, and adventure in equal measure, the Bushveld II delivers one of the largest sleeping areas in its class, king-size room for couples, families, or solo travelers who refuse to compromise, and a 4-season cantilever design that stands up to real-world conditions. Whether you're overlanding through the desert, chasing summits in the mountains, or setting up a family basecamp at your favorite trailhead, the Bushveld II is your rooftop sanctuary — ready for wherever the road takes you.
Setup takes less than 60 seconds. Unlatch the two locking latches on the shell, unfold, and let the nitrogen gas-charged pop-up struts do the rest. No poles to thread, no rainfly to fight, no guy lines to stake. Inside, a 64" W x 84" L x 43" H sleeping area gives 2+ people real bedroom-scale space to stretch out, sit up, and change clothes. An integrated skylight lets you stargaze through the ceiling — one of those touches that turns a great tent into a memorable one. Roll-up side windows with 120g fade-less breathable mesh screens deliver airflow without bugs, and 6 aluminum tent rods provide the rigid structure that keeps the walls square and the rain off.
Every material is engineered for the harsh conditions overlanders actually see. A one-piece aerodynamic polymer shell reduces drag and wind noise while traveling — no roof-buffeting, no drag penalty on highway fuel economy. The 280g ripstop poly-cotton Oxford body fabric handles UV, rain, wind, and cold season after season, while a 420D polyester Oxford rainfly in tan adds extra weather protection when the sky opens up. The insulated aluminum base plate delivers real four-season temperature management and sound dampening, and stainless steel hinges resist corrosion in salt-heavy coastal environments. A quilted high-density foam mattress is included so you're ready to sleep the first night, and a ballistic nylon pull-down strap with rubber hand grab makes closing the tent easy at the end of a trip.

Features
- Quick-Deploy Cantilever Design: Setup takes less than 60 seconds. Unlatch the shell, unfold, and the nitrogen gas struts do the rest. No poles to thread, no rainfly to wrestle, no guy lines to stake — critical when you're pulling into camp after dark or setting up in bad weather.
- King-Size Sleeping Area: 64" W x 84" L x 43" H gives 2+ people real bedroom-scale space to stretch out — genuinely closer to a bedroom than a tent. The cantilever extension adds an additional 54" x 32.5" of usable interior space beyond the main 62" x 46" floor.
- One-Piece Aerodynamic Polymer Shell: The one-piece polymer shell design reduces aerodynamic drag and wind noise while driving — you won't hear a constant roof-buffet at highway speeds, and highway fuel economy takes a smaller hit than clamshell competitors.
- Integrated Skylight: Built-in ceiling skylight lets you stargaze from bed — a rare feature at this price point, and one of those touches that turns a great tent into an unforgettable one.
- 4-Season Protection: Insulated aluminum base plate combined with 280g ripstop poly-cotton Oxford body fabric delivers protection against sun, rain, wind, cold, and snow across all four seasons. Real year-round use, not just fair-weather camping.
- 420D Polyester Oxford Rainfly: Heavy-duty rainfly in tan provides additional weather protection when the sky opens up — extra security for extended trips or unpredictable weather.
- Roll-Up Side Windows with Mesh Screens: Multiple windows with 120g fade-less breathable mesh screens deliver excellent airflow while keeping bugs out. Roll up the fabric for panoramic views, close it down for weather protection.
- Stainless Steel Hinges: Corrosion-resistant hinges stand up to salt-heavy coastal roads, humid climates, and years of hard use without rusting or seizing.
- Nitrogen Gas-Charged Pop-Up Struts: Two nitrogen gas struts deliver consistent, reliable open-assist performance in all temperatures — no leaking, no struggling with the shell in cold weather.
- Quilted High-Density Foam Mattress: Included quilted mattress delivers a comfortable base for real sleep — no need to hunt for aftermarket bedding upgrades on day one.
- 6 Aluminum Tent Rods: Structural aluminum tent rods keep the walls square, tight, and rain-shedding — no sagging fabric, no water pooling.
- Ballistic Nylon Pull-Down Strap: Heavy-duty pull-down strap with rubber hand grab makes closing the tent easy at the end of a trip. No wrestling with the shell.
- Aerodynamic Travel Profile: 12" closed height minimizes rooftop presence when the tent is packed — reduces wind noise, drag, and garage clearance issues.
- Universal Roof Rack Compatibility: Mounts to virtually any aftermarket crossbar system (Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and similar), plus most roof racks, bed racks, and OVS truck cap systems.

FAQ
- How many people can sleep in the Bushveld II? The Bushveld II sleeps 2+ people comfortably, with a 64" W x 84" L sleeping area — one of the largest in its class. It's great for couples, families with a small child, or solo travelers who want maximum interior room.
- How fast is setup? Setup takes less than 60 seconds. Unlatch the two locking latches on the shell, unfold, and the nitrogen gas struts fully deploy the tent. Teardown is equally fast — pull down with the ballistic nylon pull-down strap, latch the shell, and drive.
- Is this really a 4-season tent? Yes. The insulated aluminum base plate, 280g ripstop poly-cotton Oxford body, and 420D polyester Oxford rainfly work together to provide protection from rain, wind, UV, and cold. Rated for year-round use.
- What's the difference between the Bushveld II and other OVS hard-shell tents? The Bushveld II is a cantilever pop-up design — the shell hinges at one end and pops up on gas struts, extending the sleeping area beyond the closed footprint via the cantilever extension. This gives you more usable interior space than a clamshell design would in the same closed footprint. Other OVS tents (like the Nomadic hardshells or LD/HD/XD softshells) offer different tradeoffs in weight, footprint, and price point.
- Does the skylight actually work? Yes. The integrated ceiling skylight is a real window that lets you stargaze from inside the tent — one of the standout features of the Bushveld II. Great for clear nights in the backcountry.
- What size vehicle do I need? The Bushveld II works on full-size trucks, mid-size trucks, full-size SUVs, mid-size SUVs, Jeeps (Wrangler & Gladiator), and vans. Your vehicle needs a rack with a dynamic weight rating that accommodates the 150 lb tent weight plus occupants and gear. Verify your vehicle's specific roof load rating before ordering.
- What racks are compatible? The Bushveld II uses universal mounting brackets that fit virtually any aftermarket crossbar system (Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and similar), plus most roof racks, bed racks, and OVS truck cap crossbar systems.
- Is a mattress included? Yes. A quilted high-density foam mattress is included with the tent at no additional cost. Many owners add a topper (memory foam or air) for additional comfort, but the included mattress is ready to sleep on out of the box.
- Does the tent lock? The shell latches for travel and security. For added protection, aftermarket bracket locks can be added to the mounting hardware.
- Can I leave the tent mounted year-round? Yes. The Bushveld II is designed for year-round mounting. To extend its life, avoid extended heavy snow load on the shell and minimize prolonged exposure to extreme UV. The polymer shell cleans easily with mild soap and water.
- What about an AC or heater port? The Bushveld II does not include a dedicated AC/heater port. If you plan to run a portable HVAC or diesel heater, consider an OVS tent with a dedicated port, or use a soft cable pass-through with a window seal.
- Does it come with a travel cover? No. The Bushveld II uses its one-piece polymer shell as the travel enclosure — no additional travel cover is needed or included. This is a benefit of the hard-shell design vs soft-shell tents that require separate PVC travel covers.
- How much does the tent weigh? 150 lbs total. Manageable for installation with two people and light enough to preserve payload capacity on mid-size vehicles.
- Can I mount things on top of the shell? OVS does not recommend mounting cargo or accessories directly to the top of the polymer shell — doing so can compromise the shell's structural integrity and may void the warranty.
- What warranty is included? The Bushveld II is backed by OVS's 4-Year Limited Warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.
