Let's get the only serious negative out of the way, which is the lack of a condensation mat. So many competitors include this that I didn't even think to check. That's on me, as it's in the description.
Minor annoyances that I won't dock a star for, and which may not be an issue for others:
Mounting bolts are a little short, although my bed rack is unusually beefy and this was easily fixed with a quick trip to Home Depot.
Only one set of ladder hooks, on the back. This is fine, and they can be moved. Only an issue because I prefer to put the ladder at the back but I camp at music festivals and sometimes I'm forced to use one side or the other due to tight parking. I've searched high and low and can't find another set to buy.
The gear pockets came preinstalled but upside down.
I have no idea how the light strip is supposed to be mounted.
Positives:
Nice overall construction, materials, and value. The aluminum shell is fantastic and will not crack like plastic ones tend to. All zippers work perfectly and have not snagged.
Sturdy and easy to use telescoping ladder.
The mattress seems adequate, and the LED light strip and all the storage pockets make for a highly functional interior.
So quick and easy to open - just pop the latches and push the lid up, then insert the awning support rods and pull the awning down - DONE!
The struts are mounted inside the shell, unlike on some tents, so they're protected from weather when the tent is not in use.
Lower profile and more aerodynamic than the soft tent I've used.
I haven't had much opportunity to use this tent yet but I'm very happy with it so far. It was nice to see a competitively priced option from a respected company like Overland Vehicle Systems available from Recon Recovery, a company I trust and have bought from before, so I knew I was done shopping when I found it. I don't foresee ever needing warranty service, but I'm sure OVS would be much easier to deal with than some no-name Chinese company. I'm adding an anti-condensation mat and my installation required a little custom engineering (due my combination of truck and rack, not a defect), but otherwise I'll be using the TMON as it came, with nothing else required. You might find a nicer hard shell tent, but you'll pay a bunch more, and this one is perfect for my needs.
